Hi Barracudas,

Welcome to the 2019 summer swim season. Great to see everyone at last night's Parent Meeting. Here is a copy of the speech for those who missed it. 

Below is some key info to help orient everyone about the upcoming season. 

1.  Calendar. This calendar sets forth key events for the season. 

2.  Practices. Swim practice starts today @ 5pm. Here is the practice schedule. 

3.  Notices.  To communicate with the team, coaches and parent reps use the website, email and Twitter.  If you want to get team tweets via text message, subscribe to our text alerts as follows:

• Text “Follow @BeBarracudas” to 404-04
• In your phone Settings/Notifications, allow Twitter to send notifications.
  • You DO NOT need a Twitter account to receive alerts
  • You will not receive alerts from anyone else, unless you've personally opted to do so

4.  Meets. Our first meet (i.e., Time Trials) will be on Saturday, June 8 @ 7:30am @ our Bethesda pool. Time Trials is a "scrimmage" swim meet (against ourselves) that allows kids to get their first official time of the new summer season in each event that they want to swim. The times at this meet will determine who qualifies for our first "A" meet on Saturday, June 15 vs Country Glen.  

The deadline for signing up for Time Trials is Wednesday, June 5 @ 9 pm. To sign up:

• Go to www.bebarracudas.org;
• Click on the "Meets & Events" tab (at the top of the page);
• Scroll down to the "Time Trials 2019" meet;
• Click on the green "Meet Entry" button;
• Sign up your swimmer(s) for the events s/he wants to swim; and
• Click on the green "Job Signup" button and sign up for a job to do at the meet (e.g., timer, computer operator, official, etc.)

If your swimmer is new, just sign him/her up for freestyle (not breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly or the individual medley). There will be plenty of time this summer for your swimmer to develop the competence and confidence to swim these additional strokes.

5.  Team Photo. We will take a team photo immediately before the start of the Time Trials meet on Saturday, June 8. At this meet, we will hand out i) a t-shirt for swimmers to wear for the photo plus ii) a swim cap & bag tag. 

6. Officials. We need certified officials (referees, starters, & stroke/turn judges)!! For parents who are not new to the team, please get certified at one of the training sessions set forth here so that we have plenty of officials to run all our meets this season.   

7.  Registration.  To register for the swim team, go to www.bebarracudas.org, click on the green "Register Now" button at the right, and complete the 2 steps outlined in the instructions.
